Daniel Gargaro’s illuminated stone installation at the Espacio Eden opening

Opening artistArtista de la inauguración

Daniel Gargaro

Daniel’s opening installation sets lapis specularis aglow. This translucent, crystalline gypsum—known locally as espejuelo—can be split into thin sheets that let light through.

In Roman Hispania it was prized for window panes. Pliny the Elder wrote that the finest came from the area around Segóbriga. Its extraction made the Cuenca district a major mining landscape, supporting trade, roads and settlements, especially in the 1st and 2nd centuries CE.En la Hispania romana se valoraba para hacer ventanas. C.
